!±8± The Symbolisms of Wedding Bands

The Wedding Band is a compelling representation of the bond and vows made in marriage. It is said where is there is someone either male or female that you find extremely attractive. All your motives and intentions will be discouraged once you see that that person wear is a wedding band on his/her finger.

This ring is in a circular shape to signify eternity and a never-ending love. A wedding band may be made of many material may it be gold, silver or tungsten. However, majority of individuals strongly adhere to the tradition of using a wedding band made out of gold as this element symbolizes the purity of intention. Different traditions require that the band be worn either on the left or the right hand, but it is the tradition started by the ancient Egyptians that is frequently practiced on wearing the wedding ring on the fourth finger of the left hand. This is due to the belief that along this finger lies a vein (Vena Amoris) which is directly connected to the heart.

The symbolic wedding band contains in itself some particular symbols and representations. According to the European convention, the name of the spouse and the date of the marriage is to be engraved on the inside of the wedding band. Whereas in Hebrew weddings, a big and cumbersome ring in the shape of the Jewish temple's dome, is worn and used momentarily during the wedding ceremony. It is immediately removed due to its large size and also because it is a property of the synagogue. During the Victorian days when precious stones are prevalently applied on jewelries, the wedding band is also festooned with various kinds of stones to spell out the phrase 'love me' (L - lapis lazuli, O -opal, V - verde antique, M - marcasite, E - emerald). A particular belief based on the planets has it that each god favors a particular kind of stone, thus if your wedding day falls on a certain day, your wedding band must be designed with the stones favored by the god who rules a particular day:

Sunday is ruled by the Sun who favors Diamond, Pearl, Ruby, Red Garnet Monday is assigned to the Moon and favors Pearl, Emerald, White coral, Moonstone Tuesday is set for ruling by Mars with gems like Ruby, Red coral, Topaz Wednesday is for Mercury whose favored gems are Emerald, Amethyst, Peridot, Jade, Turquoise Thursday is ruled by Jupiter having the likes of Cornelian, Yellow Sapphire, Yellow Topaz Friday is governed by Venus favoring the stones Diamond, Emerald, Emerald, Sapphire, White Topaz, Ruby Saturday is reigned by Saturn which prefers Blue Sapphire, Turquoise, Amethyst, Tourmaline

Another symbolism that a wedding ring possess is a recent practice that involves the artistic combination of gold and iron to denote the unity of strength and beauty.

Most people dream of someday getting married and being able to wear a wedding ring on his or her fingers as a sign that he or she already belongs to the man or woman of his or her life. However, not everyone who wears this special band knows its origin. About 4800 years ago, in ancient Egypt, was the oldest recorded exchange of a never-ending band linked with eternal love.
